GEMS

GEMS stands for Girls Everywhere Meeting the Savior. This program is for 2nd to 8th grade girls. We meet in the Church basement on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Wednesday of each month from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

A typical meeting consists of singing, Bible lessons, crafts, snacks and games. If you know someone who might be interested in participating in GEMS, the first meeting is a great one to attend to see what it's all about! If you have any questions, you can call the church office-we would be happy to speak with you.

Cadets

The Calvinist Cadet Corps is an international church-sponsored boys club organization that's designed to bring boys, from ages 9 to 14, into a living relationship with Jesus Christ.

We meet in the Ideal Park CRC Activity Building on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month (October through April) from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. A typical meeting involves reciting our Landmarks (Cadet Motto, Verse and Code, along with the Pledge of Allegiance), Bible Study, crafts and games.

We wrap up the year with the Cadet-O-Rama (displaying our crafts and projects and racing our Pinewood Derby Cars) and the Cadet Camp-O-Ree with other Grand Rapids Cadet clubs out in Dorr, Michigan We encourage the boys to bring friends and brothers along.

Community programs

Our church is community-focused, which means we plan events throughout the year to give everyone in the community an opportunity to meet new people and experience new things. Our program calendar includes:

  • Food truck sponsorship with Feeding America, which occurs on the 1st Wednesday of every month
  • Alternate pickle ball group, which meets during the winter
  • Table Tennis ministries on Monday nights

Food Pantry

Ideal Park has a mobile food pantry on the first Wednesday of every month. Setup starts at about 3:15 p.m., and distribution begins at 4 p.m. Anyone who needs food is welcome to come. Volunteers to help set up and break down are always appreciated. We also have a small food pantry for use in times of need between our regularly scheduled food pantry days.
